12 people, wearing army uniform stopped a bus of 25 Shia and forced them off the bus. The killers checked the passengers’ identifications and opened fire on them.
The crime took place 100 miles north of the capital Islamabad, as the bus was traveling toward the city of Gilgit. Gilgit is a Shia populated area and a popular tourist destination for wealthy expatiates.
Sectarian violence has killed more than hundreds of Pakistani Shia in the past months and the number is increasing everyday.
Those responsible for killing Shia have not been caught or punished, SRW says.
SRW demands immediate action from Pakistani authorities to follow-up the murder cases and clear investigations in order to catch and punish those who are behind these violence against Shia in this country.
