Holding the National Flag is a Crime in Bahrain?

Ba-flgBahraini government sentences and detains Shia protestors for different accusations, some are “rational” and some are very irrational.

A court in Bahrain sentenced a man for hanging a Bahrain national flag on his truck during a protest back in 2011. Under the new law, this act is considered insult.

Al Khalifa regime creates all kind of laws to suppress and pressure pro-democracy protestors. Natinal flag is a sign of identity and people have the right to carry their flag. SRW believes laws are to protect citizens not to rational violations. Bahraini government should reconsider this law and make sure all Bahraini people have freedom of speech, thought and religion as it is guaranteed under International Bill of Human Rights.
