SRW Sends Letter to Textron Asking them to Stop Selling Weapon to Saudi Arabia

Shia Rights Watch sends letter to Textron asking them to stop selling weapon to Saudi Arabia. This organization was informed that Saudi Arabia is spending $640 million on clustered weapon. Textron has agreed to sell such weapon to this country when many countries around the world are condemning Syrian government for using cluster weapons.

Today SRW sent the letter below to Textron urging them stop the deal with Saudi Arabia.

To Investors and Shareholder of the Textron,

I am writing on behalf of Shia rights to ask you to stop selling arm to Saudi Arabia. We strongly condemn the decision made by Textron to sell cluster weapons to this country.

Saudi Arabia is known for its human rights violations. All human rights organizations have always been concerned about the violations done by this kingdom in and outside the Saudi Arabia. As we are informed Saudi Arabia is spending $640 million on cluster weapons through Textron. Selling cluster weapons, which are banned by more than 80 countries, to a government with very long history in human rights violation, is against ethical behavior that this company adopted.

Arming human rights abusers is unethical and against humanity. SRW believes these weapons will defiantly be used to kill many innocent people and will lead to more unrest in many countries. Therefore this organization urges Textron and others who arm abusers and human rights violators to stop selling weapons, especially cluster weapons, to them.

Sincerely,

Mustafa Akhwand

Director of Shia Rights Watch
