wafaghThe Department of Freedom and Human Rights of the Wefaq National Islamic society located in Bahrain reports 240 civilians arrest in May 2013. According to the organization Bahraini government carried out more than 291 rides to civilians’ homes, usually at late night hours. Most rides involved some kind of sexual or psychological abuses, beating, and insults. Three women and 19 children were among arrested as well.

The forces also destroyed number of private properties that resulted injuries of 47 people and torture of 25 citizens.

On May 17th, 2013 the forces also raided home of a very well-known Shia scholar, Issa Ahmed Qassem.

Shia Rights Watch condemns the human rights violation in Bahrain and believes Bahraini government must stop human rights violations and respect its entire citizen. SRW also invites all human rights organization and influential governments to act immediately to prevent future violations in Bahrain.
