“There were two blasts but it was not clear whether the second was also a bomb”, IG of Police SIndh Fayaz Lughari told a foreign news agency.

This is the second blast that has shaken Abbas Town in the span of four months.

Terrorists are back in Karbala

photo_5On March 3 a suicide bomber killed and wounded pilgrims commuting between two most important Shia shrines in Karbala. According to the authorities, an engineer working on the expansion project of the shrines blew himself out on Sunday march the 3rd.

The shrines for the two grandsons of the Prophet Muhammad are among the holiest sites in Shia-Islam, and they are visited by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from Iraq and abroad each year. Anti-Shia militants frequently target Iraq’s Shia majority in a bid to increase sectarian tension and undermine the country’s Shia-led government.
Meanwhile, three separate attacks in Shia-dominated areas on Sunday in central Iraq have killed at least four people and wounded 14, officials said.
The deadliest was in the Husseiniya area northeast of Baghdad, where three roadside bombs went off simultaneously, killing three civilians and wounding 11 others.

Shia Rights Watch Alerts the International Community of Ongoing Massacre in ‘Nobl’ and ‘al Zahra’

Shia Rights Watch warns both the international community and the Syrian government of imminent massacres in the two besieged villages ‘Nobl’ and ‘al Zahra’ in Allepo, Syria.

The organization states that the so called Free Syrian Army and ‘Support Front’ [Jabhat al Nosrah] have been besieging the two villages since months, sniping at innocent citizens raising the number of casualties, allowing none either to enter the villages or get out of them, and moreover blocking all ways of food or medicine supplies.

SRW raises alert of the worsening situation of the two villages. It also adds that the two villages are under missile, according to eyewitnesses by the takfiri sides especially ‘Support Front’ that has recently issued a release declaring Shia as infidel and thus it is willing to violate their lives.

SRW calls the Syrian government as well as all of the Syrian opposition sides to immediately stop the imminent massacres.

The organization holds responsibility of the savagery acts against citizens in Syria on the international society specially those states that are funding the military operations and fueling violence there.

It also calls Security Council to immediately take action and stop the massacres and genocides targeting Shia Muslims everywhere.

Embassy of Pakistan, February 2013

Embassy of Pakistan, February 2013

The Honorable Sherry Rehman

Embassy of The Islamic Republic of Pakistan

3517 International Court NW

Washington, DC 20008

Dear ambassador Rehman,

On behalf of Shia Rights Watch, I am writing to highlight the on-going human rights violations toward Shia in Pakistan and to ask for immediate action to end the violations in this country.

Since the beginning of 2013, more than 175 Shia were killed and 320 were injured due to Shia targeted killings in this country. Sectarian violence has killed hundreds of Pakistanis in recent months. Pakistani Shia are facing public massacre in Pakistan and very little action is taken by the Pakistani government to stop the violence. Those behind targeted Shia killings are rarely caught or punished, and this raises the question about the possibility of government’s involvement in the recent violations.

As you are aware, the number of Shia killings is increasing every day in Pakistan.

  • On January 2013, 90 Shia Muslims lost their lives and 123 were injured due to a car bomb in Alamdar Road in Quetta
  • On February 3rd, four Shia were killed while shopping in Karachi
  • On February 16th, 80 Shia Muslims were killed and about 200 injures due to bomb explosion in Quetta
  • On February 18th, a well-known Shia doctor, Dr Ali Heidar and his son Murteza were gunned down

SRW urges the Pakistani government to take necessarily actions to end violations. Pakistani government is supporting the terrorist groups by not arresting and/or investigating the killings. Based on international law, the government is responsible to protect the human rights of all its citizens and investigate the targeted killings.

89 Shia Muslim killed in Quetta, Pakistan

Shia-RIghts-Watch-Pakistan-bomb-blast-kills-at-least-802013 has been by far one of the most violent years in the Pakistan. Only two months into the year and more than 300 people are dead due to Shia targeted activities. Shia Rights Watch strongly condemns the attack in the provincial capital of Quetta that targeted Shia Muslims. Anti- Shia groups made a tragedy gain in Pakistan’s Shia populated city of Quetta. According to Pakistani police, about 89 Shia Muslims were killed and around 200 Shia Muslims were injured due to the explosion. It is reported that a remote controlled bomb was placed in a car near a school and market on Kirani Road. The area is Shia populated and is a busy part of the city where many do their shopping and children attend school. The explosion killed 89 people immediately and injured between 180 to 200 more. According to local doctors number of death is rising every second since many of the injured are in critical condition.

Anti-Shia group

Anti-Shia killed 26 Shia Muslims in Baghad

Multiple car bombs exploded in mostly Shia neighborhoods in Baghdad on Sunday, killing at least 26 people and wounding 100.

This comes only one week after the killing of 34 Shia Muslim in several cities in Iraq. Iraqi government fails to protect the Shia majority in the country and anti-Shia terrorists are taking advantage of the governements weakness through targeting innocent people.

This month only, Shia communities were attacked at least three times and each attack claimed more than 20 lives.

SRW have repeatedly asked and demanded Iraqi government to invest more on the security and safety of the people. Terrorist activities and sectarian discrimination is increasing in Iraq and the government must act immediately to prevent and stop the ongoing violence.

This February 14th, Celebrate Love or Mourn Tragedy?

Shia-Rigts-Watch-RFIMany reasons lend themselves to the significance of February 14th. Some celebrate it as Valentine’s Day. They wear red, give chocolates, roses, and exchange acts of compassion. Those who celebrate Valentine’s Day use it as the day to show their love and care towards one another.

In the other parts of the world, thousands of people demand their freedom and rights. February 14th is the anniversary of the Arab Spring in Bahrain. This year, Bahrainis commemorate the second anniversary of their protest. Two years ago, on this very important day, many came to streets showing their dissatisfaction towards authorities who have suppressed them throughout history. Protesters carried flowers as sign of peace; they demanded freedom, security, equality and democracy. However, the government responded to the peaceful assembly with bullets, gun shots, and tear gas. Although media outlets stopped covering human rights violations in Bahrain, protesters have not stopped demanding their rightful requests. During the past two years of protest in Bahrain, many were arrested, and tortured. They fled from their homes and many lost their lives, yet they did not stop striving for their freedom.

This year, on February 14, 2013 the peaceful protest was responded in acts of violence by government authorities again, resulting in the death of a teenage boy.

As we celebrate love and compassion in western societies, our humanitarian cognizance remind us to care for those who grieve in the Middle East. We have to show the suppressed Shia Muslim of Bahrain that we care for them, love them and are working toward their freedom. At Shia Rights Watch we advocate for their rights, we raise their voice to the world and we report Bahraini governments’ human rights violations.

At SRW we hope to celebrate freedom and democracy next year in Bahrain on February 14th, 2014. May all citizen of the world show their love to humanity by stepping up and defending human right.
